Residential Flatwork
Concrete Driveways Built for Red Clay
A driveway is the biggest slab most homeowners ever buy — and in West Alabama, it sits on the worst possible ground for it. Red clay swells every wet winter and shrinks to a bone-dry crack by August. A driveway poured straight onto that clay, with no compacted base and no steel, is on a countdown from day one.
The Clay Challenge
What This Ground Does to This Work
Red clay is expansive soil. When it takes on winter rain it swells and lifts; when it dries out in late summer it shrinks and drops. A driveway rides that movement twice a year, every year, plus the weight of your vehicles. Without a compacted stone base to spread the load and a rebar grid to hold the slab together, the clay wins — usually within two summers.

Who It's For
Homeowners around Tuscaloosa, Northport, and the rural counties who want the driveway poured once and poured right — replacing a cracked slab, paving over gravel that washes out every winter, or building new.
Who It's Not For
Anyone shopping only for the lowest bid, projects under 200 sq ft, or anyone wanting stamped or decorative finishes. Flatwork is what we do.
Proof Before Pour
The Process, Applied to Your Concrete Driveways
1.Walk
A sit-down and walk-through before ground breaks. Nothing gets assumed — grade, drainage, access, and what you actually want out of the slab.
2.Prep
Base compacted. Rebar set. Bradley photographs the base depth and steel and texts it to your phone before any truck backs in.
3.Pour
Owner on site for every pour. A jobsite photo texted to you by 5pm every work day, so you always know where your project stands.
4.Prove
A final walk-around with you before we leave the property. You keep every photo of what went under your concrete.
Timeline: Most residential driveways run several work days from prep through pour, plus cure time before you drive on it. We cover the exact schedule at your sit-down — and you get a photo update by 5pm every work day.
